D#2, HW#7, Deadline Reflection

First i have to say that finally i am here. At number 7! been a long night and week. However, i did throughly enjoy the extra time not in class this week. I would have to say that this was a substantial larger amount of a deadline. Hoping that not always like this. I did get a finally knowing what is the true purpose of annotated bibliographies and what is contained in them. I liked being able to be online and checkup on my progress by looking at other peoples blogs that so kindly didn't get so close to the deadline.

D#2, HW#6, Annotated Bibliograpgy Internet

For my first search i used standard good old google with term "video games."

"Video game." Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Wikipedia. 7 Sept. 2007
.

Classic wikipedia type of layout and content being provided and edited by the users. the page defines what a video game is being "A video game is a game that involves interaction with a user interface to generate visual feedback on a video device."

"Cloning." Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Wikipedia. 7 Sept. 2007
.

Goes into the aspects of different types of cloning such as molecular, cellular, therapeutic, and reproductive. Also talks about the ethics and topics of discussion relating to cloning.

D#2, HW#5, Reflect

My initial spark of interest in the topic of cloning is that if we have the ability as of right now why are we not implementing it. If we are using it then why does the public not know more common knowledge about cloning being used today. I haven't searched to deep into sources yet to know. However, i am sure during my research i will find out. I do remember a few years ago reading popular mechanics and they had an article on cloned sheep and the process was completed successfully. If someone could use cloning to produce a new clean heart that can be fitted to anyones blood type on order. It could save many lives and other human organs could be grown such as lungs for smokers. The one con that i can think of right now would have to be the possibility of getting replaced by a clone.

D#2, HW#4, Narrow Topic

I picked the topic of "cloning" to do for my research in class. The reason that i picked cloning is that i never really heard the scientific and reasons for and/or against it. I would like to know why some people oppose it so harshly and vice versa. After analyzing the assignment knowing i would need a good topic with info that is easily obtainable i started going to the opposing viewpoints. Once there i did a keyword search on cloning and found source numbers are good. Browsing the sources that i found in my quick search definitely help assure myself that it would be a good decision.

D#2, HW#3, Annotated Bibliography

For my CQ Researcher search input i used "energy." My aim was to find info on alternative fuels and energy conservation. Here are the three topic area fitting.
---------------------------------------------------------------

Mantel, Barbara. "Energy Efficiency." CQ Researcher 16.19 (2006): 433-456. CQ Researcher Online. CQ Press. Mesa Community Coll., 6 Sept. 2007 .

The overview of the source is that America needs to maintain and improve it's efficiency as finite materials prices rise. On such example is gasoline for transportation. Statistics due show trend over time of efficiency of appliances such as refrigerators use less than half electricity since 1972.

Cooper, Mary H. "Renewable Energy." CQ Researcher 7.41 (1997): 961-984. CQ Researcher Online. CQ Press. Mesa Community Coll., 7 Sept. 2007 .

The main theme of information of the source is showing that renewable energy has increased dramatically since the oil imbargo during the 1970s. While renewable energy methods have been put into use more common, still more needs to be done to began moving away from oil.

Weeks, Jennifer. "Nuclear Energy." CQ Researcher 16.10 (2006): 217-240. CQ Researcher Online. CQ Press. Mesa Community Coll., 7 Sept. 2007 .

It goes into detail on the benefits of knowing India is developing nuclear weaponry, yet still being safe. Also talks about how money is wasted in upgrading older nuclear plants to new higher out puts of electricity to meet demand. However, it is often cheaper and more efficient to build a new facility.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Second search was with term "guns." Just for curiosity.
---------------------------------------------------------------

Hosansky, David. "Youth Suicide." CQ Researcher 14.6 (2004): 125-148. CQ Researcher Online. CQ Press. Mesa Community Coll., 7 Sept. 2007 .

D#2, HW#2, Posting

Posted on Alexander's blog post here.

D#2, HW#1, Reading Reflection

Well i would have to say that first link , was a no show no go. I received a HTTP error 404 which equals no page by that name hosted anymore. In the "Everything's an Argument" book in chapter one, it seemed that arguments is the primary way everything is technically discovered and proven.
MLA format reading was easy review. Nowadays nearly every high school teacher strictly enforces MLA formatted papers only. Shouldn't be an issue for me. Maybe a few rusty mistakes.
As for implementing MLA format work cited papers for research, i have grown accustomed to using the online program Noodlebib.
