Justin Winter - WP#1 RD
I learned from the peer editing that many issues i am aware of in my own work are common to others and without peer editing a lot of errors that the author has no idea exist. I did realize that in my own draft i forgot to double space and also that a weak point in my writing is that i often jumble word tenses.
My Reviewers for my WP#1 were:
Justin Winter
Paulette Estrada
and one unknown
Most comments were simple mistakes that i generally am aware i often slip up. Only one slightly out of usual is where i was asked if big words were used more than necessary. Throughout my education so far in13th year i have been pressured to enhance my vocabulary and increase the complexity of my sentences. With teachers throwing in all sorts of large vocabulary list to learn and then regurgitate the following weeks through quizzes. While i do believe that when due, simple English is profoundly perfect for the task. However, when creating a personalized group of words structured with a theme and sentence flow, you should try the hardest to grasp new words and enhance the language. On my originality report on turnitin.com i received a 0% match, reducing any need to alter my WP#1 excluding revisions.

As for the online portion the POWA link was dead. The workshopping and peer review page i can account for leaving a paper for a day or two, even just hours and then coming back and noticing errors. My high school ENG101 class we did multiple peer reviews and i found them to help my writing showing areas that make sense to me but not others.

After reading through i did note some key sparks of knowledge i was unaware of such as in commas, "10. Use a comma to shift between the main discourse and a quotation," and that i never really known, or had to use a hyphen to continue a word on next line.
To conclude my revision, i am a little disappointed as it seemed i didn't revise much but in the past i know using commas and not using commas has been a biggie. As far as hyphens i now know the official grammar usage when i am handwriting a paper and run out of space so instead of just writing smaller and squeezing it in i now understand i can use a hyphen to breakup words in several ways such as "redecorat-ing."
Revised:
Cloning possibilities became a reality in February 1996 when Dolly the sheep was born from an adult somatic cell. This news headliner brought a wave of emotions and opinions on opposition for and against future cloning research. In addition, articles and protest surged in numbers. Currently today the number has significantly dropped, but still is a debatable topic.
...
My purpose is to inform and created a greater interest. Currently my position is half and half. Meaning I am for therapeutic cloning, but against destructive cloning. My audience of my final research project is the legislative branch that regulates medical practices and research. Sub audiences are those needing transplants, those chronically ill, and those who are tied in or related to any of the previous two.

ENG 102 7891

Draft WP#1 – Research Proposal
Cloning is a controversial topic that pertains to any human, yet often many individuals choose sides with little, wrong or even no knowledge of the topic at all. This is one of the first thoughts that ran through my head during my brainstorming for topics to create a paper sufficient enough to allow my interest to enhance the research. Also, I choose cloning because of the technological advances in today’s world that could allow cloning to become a bigger topic than currently. Through careful steps in structured productivity I manifested my research question to be:
Should cloning research in relations to humans be allowed to continue without restrictions, even though the safety and normal humane practices could be compromised?
Cloning possibilities became a reality in February 1996 when Dolly the sheep was born from an adult somatic cell. This news headliner brought a wave of emotions and opinions on opposition for and against future cloning research. In addition, articles and protest surged in numbers. Currently today the number has significantly dropped but still is a debatable topic. The leading reasons against cloning are the ethics and morals of creating clones of humans/animals and then harvesting them for medical treatment. Others are fearful of abuse of the technology. While even more claim cloning interferes with religious beliefs. On the pro position side, the leading components are the ability to cure many diseases and prevent cell mutation such as cancer. Also therapeutic cloning could be used to create transplants for select individuals. Other areas are to have a greater knowledge of how cells grow and what can be accomplished by changing certain variables. My purpose is to inform and created a greater interest. Currently my position is half and half. Meaning I am for therapeutic cloning but against destructive cloning. My audience of my final research project is the legislative branch that regulates medical practices and research. Sub audiences are those needing transplants, those chronically ill, and those who are tied in or related to any of the previous two. The analysis of my audience brought forth the understanding of needing the balanced argument of pro and con human cloning. The information will need to be concise and relevant.
Possible limitations of this project would be the chance and availability to do any polls or interviews of those in the medical research field. The hardest challenge to date would be selecting one side as I am divided and basically situational.

Pence, Gregory E. "Common Beliefs About Human Cloning Are Myths." Contemporary Issues Companion: Cloning. Ed. Sylvia Engdahl. Detroit: Greenhaven Press, 2006. Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center. Thomson Gale. Mesa Community College. 20 Sep. 2007.
I first noticed that domain for the site is an education domain (.EDU). I then went to lookup background information on my author, Gregory E. Pence. In the same article i found that "[He] is a professor in the philosophy department and School of Medicine at the University of Alabama" ("Common Beliefs About Human Cloning are Myths"). Next i looked to see how recently the article was published and noticed it was 2006. In side the article i believed it to be a valuable resource due to being able to use the information in a introduction or even as a body paragraph.

D#4 HW#5, Annotated Bibliography
This source is a great quick info and run down about cloning. It debunks common myths that often are believed to be true or stereotype.

Jacobs, Margaret A. "Few Legal Barriers Prevent Human Cloning." Contemporary Issues Companion: Cloning. Ed. Lisa Yount. San Diego: Greenhaven Press, 2000. Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center. Thomson Gale. Mesa Community College. 20 Sep. 2007
This article whens written after the publication of the sheep being cloned in Scotland. It refers to President Bush's decision and position on trying to ban cloning yet nothing has been passed through the legislature. At end of paper there is a paragraph that states a patent was available at the time of publication for anyone wanting to coin in on the monopoly for the next 20 years.

In this resource it is presented against allowing any type of cloning from destructive to therapeutic purposes. It also contains a list of four reasons for cloning to be unethical.

This article talks about a poll given by CNN that showed the public opinion of that sample outreach in that approximately three-fourths were against human cloning. It also states factual evidence that there are races of humans that are not reproducing at a positive rate and leading to decline in that race on the world.

This source goes into the application of cloning from testing with animals into futuristic applications of creating organs and tissue for human transplants. It also concludes with a good quote on how cloning can be used for good or evil.

In this resource the topic of banning of human cloning is one of the main themes throughout. The article leans toward a controlled ban on cloning allowing only therapeutic cloning to still exist for medical treatments.

This source is started out with President Bush's position on the topic of human cloning in banning all forms and list 4 main reasons against human cloning. The author of the source is President Bush stating his many different reasons against human cloning in all aspects.

This source starts from the stand point of no knowledge on topic giving a introduction into different types of cloning and leading into common sides of pro and con. The most useful included section would be on the possible applications of cloning such as cystic fibrosis research.

D#2, HW#1, Reading Reflection
MLA format reading was easy review. Nowadays nearly every high school teacher strictly enforces MLA formatted papers only. Shouldn't be an issue for me. Maybe a few rusty mistakes.
As for implementing MLA format work cited papers for research, i have grown accustomed to using the online program Noodlebib.
